JOY. JOY. JOY.
Last night, this dear quality was not present in our home. I was vewwy cwanky. I'm pregnant, tired, puky, yada, yada, but there's really no good excuse for a bad attitude. NONE. So today I am listing all the daily little delights that make frugal homemaking a joyful existence! These are listed in random order, (is that an oxymoron or what?!) as they occurred to me. Leave a comment and tell us what ordinary activity brings you joy.
1. Getting excited about opening my mailbox. Delivered to my door this week, at no charge to me, were a reusable shopping bag, a sample of liquid dishsoap, a sample of fabric softener, a package of Pop-Tarts, coupons, a sample of hot chocolate, and a can of wrinkle easer, to name a few.
2. Prepare yourself for a little mild scandal... Touching my sleeping husband's toes with mine at night. I don't know what it is about touching his feet, but I feel like all is right with the world when I do.
3. Looking for creative places for my grocery stash. Right now, I have jams and jelly under my bed, cereal in the coat closet, and myriad dry goods in the recessed space on the top of my cabinets. I think I'm going to participate in Life as Mom's Eat From the Pantry Challenge in January. I need to do this.
4. Taking a mid-day Rest. Now that I'm "with child," I am so thankful to be able to sit or lay down and rest, even for a few minutes. I remember laying my head on my desk at work, or even running out to the car and trying to cat-nap during my lunch break when I was pregnant with Grace.
5. Breathing deep the smells of my home. Every place has its own scent, and I love when my house smells good. Conversely, it drives me batty when my house smells like my daughter's business end!
6. Sharing laughter with my daughter. This is a fairly new experience, and I love it! It thrills me deep within when I find humor in a situation, and my eyes meet Grace's, and she is laughing too. I love the kinship!
7. Catching the sound of my husband's key in the door. This is probably one of my favorite times of the day. The moment is so full of anticipation, and Grace is already learning to run to the door when she hears the bolt turn.
8. Watching my sweetheart and baby play together. Seeing my two favorite people in the world enjoy each other's company commands my attention. These moments are too fleeting to ignore.
9. Opening my blog and finding COMMENTS! Ha! I love to hear from you. It really makes me smile. A little social interaction with the world is a healthy addition to my homemaking life. Thanks for the many lovely comments and congratulations about my pregnancy.
10. Having no dirty laundry anywhere in the house! This euphoric feeling only occurs once a week for approximately 3-5 hours, but it's great while it lasts!

I could really have used this post last night as well! ;) I can relate to some of your items on the list, specifically the last 4! Thanks for sharing! Hope you have a wonderful last day of 2009! :)
I know what you mean about an overflowing grocery stash! I'm beginning to feel a little overwhelmed with my "mess", but am very thankful for what the Lord has given us! :)
I love #10 -- most of the time we dry in the dryer and there's a true fragrance (no, I don't use drier sheets) of fresh warm cotton. Hormones do play havoc with ladies in waiting.
