Spring Cleaning...in January.

I have a small confession to make.  I participated in the January Eat from the Pantry Challenge hosted by Money Saving Mom and Fish Mama, but I didn't investigate my freezers to see what I had.  I figured I would just *remember* (cough, cough) what I had put in there.  I mean, seriously, I've only had the chest freezer for a couple of months.  I couldn't have forgotten what I had in there already!

Uh. Huh.

 I did.  I forgot.

I choose to look at this two ways.  One, it's amazing to me that I got by a whole month on less than $85 in grocery expenses without seriously denting my stockpile.  Two, I think I need to extend my Pantry Challenge another month.  I will show you why in another post if you promise to continue reading my blog.

So I cleaned 'em out.

Hello, bottom of my freezer! I haven't seen you in a long time.

Here's the contents of my freezer minus about 50 bags of frozen veggies.

Here's the veggies:

It's a sickness, I know.

The things I didn't remember that I had:

gallon of milk
6 pounds of chicken breast
pound of bacon
2 containers of Tex-Mex turkey soup
sundry baked goods

It felt so good to get the chest freezer cleaned, I started on the refrigerator freezer.  Ben had been nagging me to get it organized, because every time he opened the freezer door, he had to run for cover from the avalanche that rained down on him.  I need to get a wire shelf for the freezer, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Believe me, it looks much better than before.

They say confession is good for the soul.

I'm feeling better, I think.

They say laughter is good for the sole. I thought I had overdone it on vegetables. But no, you win.

Anyone who visits leaves with a sack of vegetables. I'M slowly learning FOR GOODNESS SAKES DON'T BUY ANY MORE VEGETABLE, UNLESS I have someone to give them too.

Enjoyed seeing your freezer all cleaned up. Nice job. Diane
