Today I felt a little nesting impulse, so I madly cleaned my house while my little tornado slept. It was a senseless endeavor, because within five minutes of the tornado's awakening, the house was a disaster again. Well, the bathroom did stay clean, but my kitchen floor did not.
But that has nothing to do with this post.
What this post is really about is...
Bugs.
Spiders, to be exact.
Our condo is in the basement of our building, and I have been noticing a sudden and vast increase in the cobwebs around the house. The curtains and rod in my bedroom looked like something from a haunted house, there were so many cobwebs. It was, well, rather disgusting.
The other day I had noticed what appeared to be a cocoon on the ceiling above the cabinets in the kitchen. I decided today to venture up there and vanquish the dirty little insect that dared to roost in my house.
This is what I saw when I climbed up there:
Kinda looks like a grasshopper or something in there, huh?
At least that's what I thought.
Next to him was this little visitor:
According to my way of thinking, I figured this must have been the mastermind behind the cocoon or whatever in the world that little white hairy mass is.
When I gathered up my courage and enough paper towels, I descended on the cocoon and the stinkin' little spider at the same time, but to my horror, the contents of the cocoon moved.
Yeah, moved.
The cocoon was not a cocoon. I think it was a nest. A nest for babies. Baby spiders. Oh, yes. Within that little nest was a great big spider, with a gigantic bulbous projection on its back.
I didn't take time to check it out, because the primal female instinct in me set in, and I franctically swiped, stabbed, squashed, and smashed the remainder of the spider squatters.
Speaking of remainders...
Happy Friday!
