Mom's Screwdriver

During one of my recent trips to Home Depot, I picked up this handy little 4-in-1 screw driver for $2.97.  Ben has one exactly like it, which was why I bought it.  Every time I have a little fix-it task around the house that requires a screwdriver, I have to dig and dig and dig to find where Ben put his.  So I bought my own.
However, I knew that mine would be more easily accessible than his, and it might just get confiscated in the heat of a remodeling battle, so I connived a plan to prevent the remotest chance of such a possibility.
That's right--the same screwdriver all dolled up!  And Ben has already verified that he will not touch it with a 10-foot pole.... :)

  1. I removed the driver part (it's 4-in-1 so it's detachable), spray painted the handle with white Krylon Fusion (plastic spray paint).
  2. Then I traced the handle on a sheet of scrapbook paper and cut out four pieces with my pinking shears.
  3. I put a couple coats of Mod Podge over them and decoupaged those babies in place.
  4. I finished it off with a coat of polyurethane spray paint for extra staying power.

Love it!!!!! My tools that are 'supposed' to stay in the house, always seem to end up out in the shop.

You know those small hammers that have screwdrivers in the end of them, layered inside as the Russian dolls? Usually brass looking? Well, mine always ended up in Beloved Husband's shop. Then they just disappeared (probably into a son-in-law's shop) and another of mine made the move. For Christmas three years ago a co-worker gave me two (count them 1, 2) in a loud psychodelic red/yellow/green/white. I still have both. It works!!

Love it! My husband and I also have the same screwdrivers. Mine just has my name plastered all over it but this would be much cuter :).
