My $0.14 CVS shopping trip!

So yesterday, Grace and I got the itch to go for a walk. It was a gorgeous day, not very hot and a beautiful breeze to keep us cool. We walked to Rite Aid, the library, the bank, and finally CVS. I had gotten a ExtraCare Coupon for a free chocolate bar that expired on the 21st, and I couldn't possibly let free chocolate slip out of my hands. I would much rather it melt in my hands. :)

Now to begin with... a little couponing lesson. If a store has a BOGO sale, and you have a BOGO coupon, you can match those two babies up to score TWO FREEBIES! How's that for sweet? That's what I thought.

I had a couple of coupons for BOGO (acronym for buy one, get one) Sobe Life Water that paired nicely with a sale at CVS, so I thought we'd give it a whirl. CVS was advertising Sobe 20 oz. as Buy one at $1.99, Get one free. However, the max. value on my coupon was $1.59, so I thought I would have to pay 40 cents for two, since CVS was selling them for $1.99 each. To my delight however, when I arrived, there was a sales sticker advertising them as $1.59.
Pause a moment to imagine my elation. It was thrilling, to be sure.
I had printed four coupons, but because I've really got it together, I printed two of the coupons on the back of my first two coupons. I was trying to save paper by using the half that the original coupon didn't print on, but I failed to put it back in the printer the right direction. I ended up with only two usable coupons, so I could get four now instead of my intended eight. Anyways, back to my original story. I grabbed four waters, and the cashier had the chocolate sitting up at the register. Apparently I wasn't the only one with this freebie coupon. My total before coupons was around $5.40, but after my coupons it was just $0.14!

Hey April! I've been enjoying your blog. I must admit that I'm addicted to "CVS'ing" & can hardly wait each week to plan out my scenarios. :) I have quite a stockpile of free toothpaste and other toiletries that I've collected over the last few months. Saving money can be very addicting! :)
