As you know, I am mother to one little precious pumpkin and another on the way. I feel very inadequate and quite hesitant to speak authoritatively on the subject of motherhood and parenting. There are many, many others who are more qualified and better able to express themselves on this topic. However, I thoroughly enjoy my calling as a mommy, and I strive to make each day count for my little one.
One thing I am striving to do is including Grace in my daily activities. Whatever the task, I try to make her my little buddy. When I do laundry, her job is to "help" sort the laundry and to carry the quarters up the stairs to the laundry room. She loves to play with the quarters while I load the machine, and she is almost coordinated enough to fit them in the slots. When I am making the bed, she brings me the shams and decorative pillows. When I brush my teeth, she brushes hers.
My latest "little me" activity is cooking in the kitchen. She enjoys being with me in the kitchen, and loves to see what is going on. When we are making dinner, I try to show her what I am doing and include her if I can. This can be a little tricky when the stove and oven are hot, so we are still limited here. But I discovered quite out of necessity that she loves to "wash" the dishes. Today while hurriedly making cookies, I set her up at the sink with a bowl of soapy water and a couple dishcloths. She loved it!
My busy little helper!
Oh so industrious.
Oh so WET!
If you haven't included your little one in your activities, start today. Grace honestly amazes me with her understanding and willingness to help. It can be hard work including your little one, but the payoff far outweighs the labor.

A glitch kept my first answer from posting -- I won't retype. Just know that Grace will appreciate this for the rest of her life.
