Valentine Pretzel Heart Candy

Last week while making those other chocolate-covered treats, it occurred to me that pretzels make the cutest little hearts.   These little candies were birthed from that project.

You need peanut butter, mini pretzel twists, white almond bark (Aldi's carries this 1.5 lb. package for under $2), food coloring (optional).

Spread a big glob of peanut butter on a pretzel twist.

Top with another pretzel twist.

This step especially is super kid-friendly--Grace really loved helping out with this!

Make 24-25 pretzel sandwiches per 1/2 lb. of almond bark.

Melt white chocolate coating over medium heat in a double boiler, or in a bowl perched atop a saucepan.  I would recommend only melting about 1/2 lb. at a time; if you do more, it cools off before you use it all.

Working quickly so the peanut butter doesn't begin to melt, drop your pretzel sandwich into the bowl and spoon chocolate over top.  Remove with a fork, shaking the fork a little to remove excess coating.  Scrape the bottom of the fork on the edge of the bowl to avoid drips.

After coating dries, drizzle contrasting colors over top for a little pizazz.

My husband loves these.  They make a cute homemade Valentine's gift, or an anytime gift for someone you love!
