Frugal Homemaking: Cheap Diapers Delivered

If you have a little one in diapers, you know how pricey it can be to buy disposable diapers, even when you're using generic or store-brand diapers. If you're not inclined to drag your little ones out in this inclement weather for every drugstore deal on diapers, then sit up and check out this deal.

Amazon has a newer program called Amazon Moms. It's a free membership program for any and all child caretakers. The best thing about this program, in my opinion, is the discount they offer on their diapers. You can get 30% off diapers when you enroll in the Amazon Mom program combined with the Subscribe and Save option.

Here's what you need to do:

Sign up for Amazon Mom. The program is free, and it includes free trial membership of Amazon Prime Shipping and a fantastic discount on diapers.
Pick out the diapers that you typically buy. Just click on the brand that you prefer, you can change the size you need once you choose the right brand.
Change the diaper size to the one your child wears. Now, do you see the little aqua rectangle that sits in the middle of the page? It details the 30% discount and the final price that you can score with Amazon Mom combined with the Subscribe and Save feature. Subscribe and Save is an Amazon feature that gives you a 15% discount on the item when you sign up for an automated 1, 2, 3 or 6 month subscription to that item. However, there is no fee, no risk, and most importantly, no obligation. So you can cancel your subscription to that item at any time after the first shipment is sent, and you still receive the additional 15% discount.
On the right hand side of the page, you will see two orange buttons. One says "Add to Cart" and the other says "Subscribe Now". Choose the quantity that you wish to buy and hit "Subscribe Now". You'll have a chance to enter any discount/promotional codes or gift cards you may have on the next page.
On the right hand side of the newly loaded page you will see a box for any codes or gift cards you may have. This would be where you would enter the $10 discount code from the February issue of BabyTalk or the Amazon Mom mailing you may have received. Enter those and hit "Apply". Choose your billing method and address and hit "Sign Me Up".
Once the order has shipped, you can go back and cancel the subscription by entering your Amazon account (usually there's a link on the top right hand side of the page that says "Your Account"). Under the heading "More Order Actions", you will see a button titled, "Manage Subscribe and Save Items". Choose that, and then click "Cancel this subscription" for the item that you wish to cancel. As a side note, even if you cancel your subscription, you can go back and reactivate this subscription in the same way that you canceled it and you will still receive that item at the same price that you originally paid the first time, discount and all!
The prices fluctuate slightly and constantly on Amazon, so my calculations may be off a little depending how much they are charging at any given time.

The very best value is the Luvs, but I have included the breakdowns for the other brands for those of us with preferences. All of the prices are great, considering that you can order in your PJs, and in two days they deliver it to your door free of charge. My personal order of preference is Huggies Snug and Dry, then Pampers Swaddlers/Cruisers, Huggies Little Snugglers/Movers, Pampers Baby Dry, and Luvs.
